Update: Lions Home

Finally the welfare department has issued the license for the Lions Home.

LCIH had a meeting with the Ray of Hope. At the meeting it was decided that classes for young children with special needs shall commence in January, 2019.

The Lions present were OC PP T. Sriskanda, President Eugene Ong and Secretary Jimmy Chua.

Lattest on the Home from TSK

The Lions Home as all are aware by now took 24 years (2016) to complete.

It needed a lot of patience and perseverance to do it.

Only a few of our members are aware of what we as a club had been through.

So once the Home was completed with Certificate of Fitness on 26th July, 2016, we handed over the same to the Ray of Hope.

They are the ones applying for the licenses and they encountered numerous problems along the way.

It was only recently that they met up with a kind welfare officer who decided to assist them and within two (2) weeks the license was issued.

Can you imagine if the Ray of Hope people did not meet up with that officer?

On our part, we did not want to interfere with the application for license because it was done by the Ray of Hope who are dependent on the Welfare Department for part of their funding.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the license has been obtained. The Ray of Hope is getting the license to put up sign boards from the local council and should get them within a month.

They hope to commence the Montessori School for children with special needs in January, 2019.

LCIH has agreed to provide subsidies to families who cannot afford to pay for their special needs children.

Once the school is up and running, then only we shall have an opening ceremony. The Ray of Hope informs us that they would get a VVIP to attend the opening ceremony. We are hoping for a date in June, 2019.

This is the report forwarded by TSK who is too busy to be interviewed.
